Over the past few decades digital print has revolutionized the print industry. Every year, new advances in digital print technology has continually closed quality gap that once existed between digital and offset print. Today, the quality of digital print can typically rival that of traditional offset print, and the variety of substrates that can be printed on often exceeds offset. Combined with the low cost of set up and the ability to print variable data, digital is becoming the clear choice for more and more projects.
WHEN TO CHOOSE DIGITAL PRINT
The rise of digital print has made commercial printing a much more accessible and cost-effective option for many. However, digital can’t always match the quality and clarity of offset print, and depending on the size of your job, the cost per piece may be more. So when should you choose digital?
TIME IS A PRIORITY
Reduced set up time means a much faster turn around time. Combined with web-to-print capabilities, we can have your job printed the next day, or in some cases, the same day. Digital print is great when you need that project done ASAP.
SHORT RUNS
Only need a few pieces printed? When it comes to short run jobs, digital is by far the best and most cost-effective option. Reduced time and material required for set up means major savings for jobs of 1,000 pieces or fewer.
VARIABLE DATA
Variable data print capabilities (different names/images on each piece) is where digital print really shines. In creating a more personalized experience, you can exponentially increase your rate of return on marketing materials.
UNCONVENTIONAL SUBSTRATES
When paper won't cut it, our digital presses offer additional solutions: synthetic substrates. If tear, moisture, and grease resistance are critical, try vinyl PVC or polyester. Great for menus, window clings, loyalty cards, maps, and much more.

OUR DIGITAL PRESSROOM
At Ideal Printers we are continually investing and upgrading our digital print capabilities as the technology/quality of digital presses continues to advance. In October 2022, Ideal Printers installed one of the first HP Indigo 15k Digital Presses in the Midwest. With the addition of this single press, our digital print production capabilities have quadrupled, along with significant enhancements in accuracy and quality. The larger B2 sheet size(20.25″x29.5″), paired with thick substrate capabilities (up to 24pt, or 600 GSM), HP One Shot technology, and HP Indichrome, has given us the ability to match the quality, speed, color range, and versatility of offset print in ways that we never could have imagined just 10 years ago.
