Since officially opening our in-house mailing department in 2010, we’ve been finding ways to consistently grow the operation. Today, our mailing department sends out over 1,000,000 pieces of mail each month, and that amount keeps growing.
To keep up with the growth, we felt like it was time to make some serious additional investments into the technology we use, to help improve capacity, efficiency, and accuracy through automation. So in March 2019, we purchased and installed two new MCS Pro inkjet imaging system systems (Eagle 30 and Falcon), new MCS Raptor software, and MCS Perfect Match 10 camera system.
MCS PRO EAGLE 30/RAPTOR 10 SOFTWARE
Our new Eagle 30 inket is capable of imaging mail pieces horizontally and vertically, meaning it can image up to 66,000 pieces of mail per hour of variable data print. For accuracy and automation, this is all controlled by MCS Raptor 10 software–which is the most advanced mail manufacturing software for inkjet printing in the industry. The Eagle 30 also uses a faster drying ink, and a new drying system, so there’s no issue with smearing or bleed if we’re running at full speed.

While the Eagle 30 nearly doubled our imaging capacity almost immediately, we didn’t stop there. In addition, we also purchased a new MCS Pro Falcon inkjet imaging system (which can image up to 32,000 pieces of mail hour), and a MCS Perfect Match 10 camera system. To dramatically improve automation, we attached both the Falcon inkjet imager and the Perfect Match 10 camera system to our 6-pocket edge inserter, turning what used to be a four process job (machine insert, manual match, seal, stamp/sort) into a single automated job. The whole process now takes less than 1/3 of the time it used to. In addition, the Perfect match 10 camera system means we can automatically match up to three inserts per envelope, with 100% accuracy.
GIVE IT A TEST DRIVE
To say we’re thrilled about this new equipment would be a massive understatement. While it allows our mailing team to process more mail more efficiently, the improved automation also makes their jobs easier. And for our customers, well, the improved speed and accuracy will only mean faster turn around time.
